With over 2 million applications received yearly, BairesDev’s data shows sustained growth in female applicants, especially for technical positions.
Mountain View, Calif. – March 26, 2025 – BairesDev®, an award-winning nearshore software development company, analyzed the applications received from 2020 to 2024. Once again, women made up 51% of all new applicants in 2024, a figure first reached in 2023.
Key highlights:
- Women continue to lead the charge, making up 51% of all new applicants in 2024. This milestone was first achieved in 2023, marking the first time in BairesDev’s history that women accounted for more than half of new applicants.
- 74% more women applied to technical positions in 2024 than five years ago.
- Brazil and Jamaica led female applicant growth with increases of 180% and 380%, respectively, since 2020.
- Female applicants interested in AI positions increased by 166% since 2020.
“We’re seeing a shift in the tech applicant pool. More women are applying, especially for technical roles, with interest in AI roles increasing by 166%,” said Natalia Rodriguez, VP of Staffing at BairesDev. “Five years ago, these numbers looked very different. This milestone is consistent with the 400% increase in women applicants that BairesDev reported in 2022. These findings were revealed in the “Women in Tech” Report, a research study that analyzes the millions of applications received by BairesDev and updated every year.
